Ida Maria came out with a new album in 2010. WHAT? I had no knowledge of this.
I really liked her album Fortress Round My Heart in 2008. Like, really, really liked it. There was something about her raspy, agressive voice, simple and riotous lyrics about liking you better when you’re naked and feeling on top of the world when you’re drunk that really connected with my 17-year old self....

A conversation at the end of "Hang on to Your Ego"...
Brian Wilson: Hey, Chuck, is it possible we could bring a horse in here if we don't screw anything up?
Chuck Britz: I...beg your pardon?
Brian Wilson: Honest to God, the horse is tame and everything.

When pressed about which side the U.S. government was on, the Egyptian protesters or Mubarak, Hilary Clinton had this to say:
“We do not want to send any message about backing forward or backing back; what we want to do is help clear the air so that those who remain in power, starting with President Mubarak with his new Vice-President, with the new Prime Minister, will begin a process of...

Hey, gang. I was supposed to start on an english essay today, but I did this instead.
Here’s my shoddy cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.” Terribly cliche, I know, but cut me some slack, will ya?

I had a dream that I was reviewing a mediocre movie. I remember it being tedious.
Apparently my dreams aren’t very ambitious.

I just realized that I made a post about me walking alone tonight, and that I also got to see an advance showing of a movie as well. For the record, I didn’t see a movie alone. I went with some friends but forgot my keys and wallet in the theatre so I had to walk back and forth by myself to get them.
I’ve always thought seeing a movie in a theatre alone was kind of weird. Thought I...

CHECK IT. Qwiki. The hot new thang on the interwebs.
It’s a new way to access information, generating an interactive slideshow of text, voice, and images to give you insight into whatever you want to know about. It’s kind of like wikipedia, but way better. It’s only in the alpha stage right now so it’s got some issues and only knows about 2 million things, so sign up and...

I got to see a free advance showing of The Mechanic tonight, courtesy of Alliance Pictures.
I guess they hoped that a social media savvy young man like myself would run to my Tweetdeck and Tumblr to tell everyone to go see this movie.
Well, don’t. It sucked. Thanks for the free movie, suckers!

This site got 10,000 sign-ups in 2 days.
And nobody knows what it does yet.
It’s just called ‘Hipster’ and promises something cool is coming.
Is it stupid, or is it genius?

I’m so addicted to this right now. It’s a cool site filled with great photographs and tons of recordings of old gospel hymns (at 33, 45, and 78 rpm, and even a radio option) for you to stream or download for free!

“When Jesus Christ had said his piece
To all the people that were listening about the wheat and the weeds
‘Just let them intertwine, just leave them be’
Well, honey, he was talkin’ about you and me”
Just a little lyric I’ve been playing around with for a folk song I’m toying with the idea of writing.

It happened again this morning. I may or may not have shampoo’d my hair twice but I totally can’t remember no matter how hard I try. Here’s how it goes: I’ll get a glob of shampoo in my hand and then pause, getting the biggest wave of deja vu as if I’d just done this 30 seconds earlier. I’ll then hesitate to lather my hair as I try my hardest to remember if...

Vivian Maier: unknown Chicago-area nanny recently... →
This is really cool. Basically, Vivian Maier was a Chicago-area nanny who, in her spare time, took stunning street photography. Her work is still being discovered as many (hundreds of thousands) of her negatives were left undeveloped. She died in 2009, and has an exhibit running now at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Fascinating stuff, and the photos are stunning.
Shout out to the lovely...
